The regional agricultural organization, UPA-Andalusia, has called on the Ministry of Agriculture to implement special measures due to a drought that has led to a 40% drop in cotton production. The drought, coupled with a severe pest attack, has also negatively impacted other crops and livestock. UPA is pushing for changes to the regulations governing aid perception by farmers, including modifying the Specific Payment of Cotton collection and increasing the minimum yields. They also recommend exempting farmers from the commitment to sow specific crops for organic amendments, while still receiving aid.
