A new gooseberry variety called "Avangard" has been developed by the South Ural Research Institute of Horticulture and Potato Growing and has been added to the State Register of Breeding Achievements. The variety is recommended for cultivation in the Ural region and is known for its high yield of 3-7 kg per bush and excellent sweet and sour taste. It is also resistant to powdery mildew and slightly affected by septoria. The institute has a long history of breeding horticultural crops and potatoes, and has developed over 300 varieties of horticultural crops and 34 potato varieties.
