Uruguay has inaugurated a new fishing port in Capurro, following a US$ 110 million investment, which is expected to significantly enhance Montevideo's port activities. President Luis Lacalle Pou emphasized the port's reorganization and the removal of sunken ships to improve navigation. The new terminal, which added 25 hectares from the river, aims to boost the fishing industry and alleviate congestion at Montevideo's main port. The project also includes dredging the access channel to a depth of 14 meters, in collaboration with Argentina, to enhance Uruguay's port capacity and regional importance.
