The United States and the European Union have signed a tariff quota agreement to preserve access to the European market for US agricultural commodities. The deal is expected to restore favorable market access for US products such as rice, almonds, wheat, and corn. The new allocations are based on the historical pattern of agricultural exports for the 27 EU member countries. The agreement was signed by US Trade Representative Katherine Tai, Sweden's Permanent Representative to the European Union Ambassador Mikael Lindvall, and European Commission Deputy Director General for Agriculture and Rural Development Michael Scannell.
