In March, Mexico continued to be a strong market for US beef exports, with a 17% increase to 17,454 mt, valued at $97.3 million, a 26% increase from the previous year. This contributed to a 16% rise in quarterly exports to 50,509 mt and a 17% increase in value to $283.6 million. The depreciation of the peso has made beef more affordable for Mexican consumers, leading to an increase in demand. During the first quarter, Mexico also became the largest market for US beef variety meat, with a 13% increase to 25,533 mt, valued at $72.6 million, due to the high demand for products such as livers, tripe, lips, hearts, and tongues. Notably, beef lip shipments were at their highest since 2017, with a 38% increase from the previous year.
