The Export Library for Colombia has been updated to permit beef exports from 14 US states, following efforts by the USDA and other agencies to lift restrictions imposed due to H5N1 findings in dairy cows. Dan Halstrom, president and CEO of the US Meat Export Federation, thanked the US government and Colombian importers for their support. The restrictions, which began in April, had drastically reduced US beef exports to Colombia, dropping monthly sales from $3 million to under $850,000 by July. The US now aims to restore its beef market presence in Colombia, a key importer, with 2023 shipments valued at $40 million.
