US: Corn and soy exports fall; wheat rises

Corn and soybean sales to foreign buyers fell week-on-week, while wheat sales improved, according to US Department of Agriculture (USDA) data. Corn export sales were recorded at 107,500 metric tons in the seven days ending July 27, the agency said in a report. This represents a 66% drop from the previous week and the previous four-week average. Japan was the main buyer with 140 thousand tons, followed by Egypt with 38 thousand tons and Jamaica with 19.6 thousand tons. Mexico bought 17.6 thousand tons and Nicaragua bought 15.6 thousand tons. The total would have been higher, but an unnamed country canceled orders for 106,700 metric tons and Canada canceled shipments for 21,000 tons, the USDA said. For the 2023-2024 marketing year, which begins September 1, sales reached 348,900 metric tons. Corn exports for the week totaled 626,200 tonnes, up 52% from the previous week.
