The Association of Exporters (ADEX) welcomed the recent Executive Order by the United States Government that modifies the scope of the reciprocal tariff applied to certain agricultural products, excluding from its application a set of relevant subheadings for Peru. According to the analysis carried out by the Center for Research in Economics and Global Business CIEN-ADEX, the new provision eliminates the application of the reciprocal tariff to 237 agricultural subheadings of the U.S. Harmonized System (HTSUS at eight digits). Of that universe, 79 subheadings correspond to products that Peru exports to the U.S. According to official data from the United States International Trade Commission (USITC), they represented in 2024 an export value of just over $1126 million, equivalent to 11.7% of the total national shipments to the northern country ($9605 million).
