A recent survey by Farm Futures reveals that US farmers are planning to plant more drought-resistant crops due to low soil moisture, leading to a decrease in corn planted area by 1% to 87.7 million acres, the lowest since 2009. The total US grain production is projected to be 14.1 billion bushels in 2023, while domestic consumption may rise to 14.3 billion bushels, resulting in reduced ending stocks. The cultivation of sorghum is expected to increase to 8.5 million acres, the highest since 2012/13, and the projected wheat sown area is 45.7 million acres, with soybean area expansion to 89.6 million acres, driven by growing interest in diesel production.
