The USDA's 2025 U.S. Fruit and Tree Nut Outlook Report reveals significant changes in the U.S. pecan industry, with Hurricane Helene causing an 8% decrease in Georgia's production and affecting other states, resulting in a 30% overall production decline. Despite the drop, New Mexico's production is expected to reach the third highest historical level. The report also highlights a 18% increase in shelled pecan inventory and a 27% rise in total inventory at the end of the 2023/24 season. In the first four months of the 2024/25 season, pecan exports and imports have seen a decrease, but the export value of kernels remained stable due to a 6% increase in unit price. Processors have purchased 26% less pecan this season compared to the previous year, and the total inventory has dropped by 4%.
