US beef and pork exports have continued to perform well into the third quarter of 2021, with both reaching record levels. Beef exports in September saw a significant increase of nearly 60% compared to the previous year, with a 20% rise in volume and a 59% increase in value. The first nine months of 2021 saw an 18% increase in beef exports, totaling 1.08 million tons and valued at $7.58 billion, marking a 36% increase from the same period in the previous year.
China has been a key market for this growth, with beef exports to the country increasing by 672% year-over-year through September. Pork exports, while slightly down in volume, saw an 8% increase in value in September. From January to September, pork exports were 1% above the previous record pace, totaling 2.24 million tons and valued at $6.23 billion, with China's demand for US pork rising by 17% compared to 2020.
