The Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) has expressed concerns over Taiwan's agricultural policies, perising their removal. The USTR's priorities include removing barriers to US pork and beef, addressing rice procurement systems, regulatory processes for pesticide maximum residue limits, and market access for US agricultural biotechnology products. Despite Taiwan's recent steps to address these concerns by lifting bans on US pork and beef, the USTR's 2021 Trade Policy Agenda and 2020 Annual Report do not acknowledge these actions. The US and Taiwan have also engaged in discussions regarding intellectual property, pricing transparency in pharmaceuticals, investment climate improvement, and technical regulation burdens.
