USDA releases 2023 Aquaculture Census report

The latest census shows that there are 3,453 aquaculture farms in the United States with sales revenue, an increase of 18% from 2018. In 2023, Mississippi, Washington, Louisiana, Florida and Alabama accounted for 55% of the national aquaculture sales and 49% of the national aquaculture farms. Edible fish and mollusks are the largest product categories in the aquaculture category, with catfish and oysters being the top-selling species.
