The US Grains Council’s 2023-24 Corn Export Cargo Quality Report indicates that despite adverse weather conditions, the quality of the US corn crop was better than or equal to US No. 2 on all grade factors, surpassing the five-year average. The report, which analyzed 433 yellow commodity corn samples, revealed an average test weight of 58.1 pounds per bushel, higher than the previous year and the five-year average. The protein concentration also increased to 8.9% from 8.7% last year, exceeding the five-year average. All samples tested were below the US Food and Drug Administration action level for aflatoxins and deoxynivalenol.
