The Uzbek Ministry of Agriculture is planning to lease up to 1 million hectares of land in Russia for the cultivation of crops such as soybeans, wheat, and oilseeds to meet its domestic market demands. The project will start with a 35,000-hectare pilot phase to establish cooperation and practice before expanding to 300-500 thousand hectares, and eventually 1 million hectares. The initiative has received support from 23 Russian subjects, with Russia offering around 8-13 million hectares of land for agricultural use. A detailed implementation plan will be discussed during a future Uzbek working group visit to Russia.
