Uzbekistan's sweet cherry harvest has seen a significant decrease in 2022 due to prolonged rainfall during the flowering season, leading to a drop in both domestic production and exports. Despite this, analysts, including EastFruit, predict that Uzbekistan could still rank among the top five global sweet cherry exporters, outperforming Spain which has also seen a decrease in exports. The country's export volumes are expected to be similar to Spain's, and interest from the EU and the Middle East as importers remains strong. However, Uzbekistan faces challenges in export earnings due to the need to improve cherry quality and infrastructure, as current practices result in a lower price per fruit.
