Uzbekistan's fruit and vegetable market experienced significant changes in 2021, with a noticeable increase in the prices of strawberries and raspberries, which remained high despite the high global prices. The country also began importing raspberries from Tajikistan and managed to export its first supply of frozen raspberries to Russia. The export of frozen vegetables and fruits also saw a substantial increase, doubling from 2020. Additionally, Uzbekistan's peanut exports also surged in 2021, with a 67% increase from the previous year. Furthermore, there has been a trend in expanding pomegranate plantations, with expectations to reach at least 600 thousand tons in the next 5-10 years, which is expected to boost exports as the domestic market may not be able to handle such a large production.
