Northwestern Bulgaria is facing a drought that is severely impacting vegetable producers, particularly those growing peppers. The intense sun is causing the plants to dry out and burn, forcing producers to pick the peppers early and sell them green at a low price to cover costs or risk losing their crop. However, these low prices are leading to significant financial losses for the producers. As a result, Iva Ilieva, a producer, is contemplating reducing her cultivated area and switching to a more drought-resistant and profitable crop for the next farming season.
