In the first five months of the year, Kazakhstan saw a significant increase in the production of vegetable oil, with a total of 317.5 thousand tons, marking a 13.1% rise from the previous year. This growth was primarily driven by a 17.1% increase in unrefined oil production, which now makes up the majority of the country's output. The East Kazakhstan region was the largest contributor to this production. The domestic market experienced a 27.4% decrease in vegetable oil sales, while imports fell by 22.7%. However, exports saw a notable increase of 54.2%, with 136 thousand tons sent abroad, primarily as sunflower oil. Retail prices for vegetable oil also dropped by 23.4% across the country, with the largest reductions observed in the Kyzylorda, Almaty, and Aktobe regions.
