On August 24, 2024, the Obour market stabilized vegetable prices, with tomatoes ranging from 10 to 15 pounds per kilo, onions from 6 to 10 pounds, zucchini from 16 to 28 pounds, carrots from 7 to 10 pounds per kilo, beans from 25 to 35 pounds, local eggplant from 3.5 to 7.5 pounds, peppers from 6 to 11 pounds, local cucumbers from 12 to 14 pounds per kilo, local lemons from 6 to 10 pounds, taro from 20 to 24 pounds per kilo, molokhia from 4 to 5 pounds per kilo, garlic from 35 to 60 pounds, and okra from 30 to 45 pounds per kilo. The state is providing support to Egyptian farmers, including soft loans, establishment of agricultural greenhouses, and easing licensing procedures, to help them with the challenges of climate change and heat stress.
