Prices for most vegetables on the stock exchanges in our country continue to rise this week, while for fruits the trend is in the opposite direction and a decrease is observed. This is shown by the data of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets. The market price index, which measures the movement of food commodities wholesale in Bulgaria, increased by 0.16 percent and reached 2,463 points compared to 2,459 points a week earlier. The base level of 1,000 points is from 2005, which indicates that the price pressure on food remains persistent. The most serious price increase for vegetables was again for peppers. Green peppers jumped by over 42 percent and are traded at 2.30 euros per kilogram, while red peppers rose by almost 25 percent to 2.34 euros per kilogram.
