Mexico's livestock production increased by 2.9% in the first 11 months of 2022, with chicken, beef, and pork contributing 3.4 million tons, 1.9 million tons, and 1.5 million tons respectively. Veracruz and Jalisco were the leading states in beef and chicken production, and pork production respectively. While pig farming, poultry farming, and livestock account for 97% of the total production, sheep and goat meat are also consumed in Mexico with the State of Mexico and Zacatecas being the main producers. Global leadership in sheep and goat farming is led by China for meat and India for milk.
