In 2020, US pepper imports reached 86.5 thousand tons, valued at $249.72 million, showing a slight increase in volume but a decrease in value compared to the previous year. The average import price per ton of US pepper fell by 6.8% to $2,885. The US saw a decrease in import prices from most of its main supply markets, but there was a significant increase from Ecuador and South Africa. The US increased pepper imports from Vietnam, Brazil, and Indonesia, but sharply reduced imports from India, Ecuador, and China. Vietnam remained the largest supplier of pepper to the US, accounting for 66.7% of total imports.
