Vietnam: Sugar prices face significant competitive pressure in the global market

At the seminar “Economic Growth Momentum of Two Digits and Investment Opportunities in 2026”, many opinions from experts and business leaders focused on analyzing the challenges as well as new directions for Vietnam's agricultural sector in the context of increasingly fierce global competition. Sharing at the seminar, Mr. Nguyễn Đức Hùng Linh, representative of AgriS, said that the entire sugar industry's revenue currently reaches about 28,000 trillion VND per year, of which over 11,000 trillion VND comes from the sugar segment, with about 80% of the output serving exports. However, similar to many other leading agricultural products such as rice or coffee, Vietnam's sugar prices are under significant competitive pressure in the global market.
