Vietnam's tuna exports experienced a slowdown in July 2022, with a 32% increase over the same period in 2021, reaching over 85 million USD. The total tuna export turnover from January to July 2022 was 638 million USD, a 52% increase from the same period in 2021. However, high tuna input prices and fluctuating exchange rates have posed challenges. The export value to the US decelerated nearly half compared to the previous month, while exports to the EU increased by 16%. Exports to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) markets were volatile, with increased exports to Canada and Japan, and decreased exports to Mexico and Chile. The ban on fish lure devices in the Midwest Pacific region and inflation in other countries are expected to further restrain Vietnam's tuna exports in the later months of 2022.
