The latest statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment show that Vietnam's exports of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products in the first 10 months of 2025 reached 58.13 billion USD, an increase of 12.9% compared to the same period in 2024. The United States is the second-largest market (after China) with a 20.4% market share, equivalent to 11.85 billion USD, still increasing by 6.2% compared to the same period last year, but the growth rate is slowing down. Previously, the United States was consistently the number one importer of Vietnamese agricultural products, with double-digit growth rates.
Awaiting tax reduction
Recently, international media reported that U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that coffee, spices, etc., from Vietnam are items that the U.S. cannot produce and could be included in the tax exemption list in response.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the U.S. still maintains a retaliatory tariff of 20% on goods originating from Vietnam, according to Executive Order No. 14257 dated April 2, 2025. However, the U.S. is also reviewing the products listed in Annex III of Executive Order No. 14356 issued on September 5, 2025, regarding "Potential tax adjustments for oriented partners..."
