Since China reopened its borders after three years of pandemic closure on January 8, 2023, agricultural trade activities have surged, leading to a significant increase in the prices of various agricultural products in Vietnam. Fruits such as dragon fruit, durian, and jackfruit have seen prices rise by 2-3 times compared to the same period last year. Other crops like sweet potatoes, taro, and watermelon have also experienced price hikes. The surge in prices is primarily due to the resumption of customs clearance to China, increased factory purchasing activities, and a decrease in the supply of some products. The Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association predicts a growth of over 20% in fruit and vegetable exports in 2023, with a turnover of over 4 billion USD.
