Vietnamese Lychees Break into High-End Market

This year, Haiyang Province's litchi cultivation area reached 8,800 hectares, primarily concentrated in Qinghe County and Zhiling City. It is worth noting that most of Haiyang Province's litchi cultivation areas follow safe production procedures, with 12 regions certified by Global Good Agricultural Practices (GlobalGAP) and 56 regions certified by Vietnam Good Agricultural Practices Standards (VietGAP).

Starting this season, Haiyang Province organized litchi production technical training courses according to Vietnam Good Agricultural Practices Standards and Global Good Agricultural Practices. Pham Duc Loc, Director of the Crop and Plant Protection Department at the Haiyang Province Agriculture and Environment Bureau, stated: "We are certain that litchi production must not only guarantee yield and quality but also ensure food hygiene safety. Therefore, from the start of the litchi season, agricultural departments have strengthened coordination with local areas, guiding everyone to implement and apply safe production procedures. Currently, as litchis have entered the harvesting period, agricultural departments continue to work with local professional institutions to strengthen guidance and supervision of cultivation areas and packaging facilities."

In addition to the traditional litchi export market of China, Haiyang Province is actively promoting and expanding into high-end markets such as the United States, Australia, Japan, and Europe. This year, Haiyang Province is expected to have a bumper litchi harvest, with production reaching 65,000 tons, an increase of 10,000 tons from last year (which was 55,000 tons). (End)
