Vietnam's agricultural, forestry, and fishery exports reached $38.48 billion in the first nine months of 2023, with China being the largest importer, accounting for 22.1% of total exports. Despite declining exports to traditional markets, Vietnamese exports to China grew by 13.8% year-on-year, with fruit and vegetable exports accounting for 64% of the total. Vietnam is negotiating agreements with China to expand exports of watermelons, durians, peppers, medicinal materials, and citrus fruits, and manufacturers need to focus on quality, packaging, labeling, and traceability to comply with Chinese regulations.
