In the first half of the year, EU tuna processors imported 104,050 tonnes of steamed tuna loins, marking a 6% decrease from the previous year but an increase from 2019 numbers. The average import price remained steady at EUR 4,352/ton. Due to the depletion of the Autonomous Tariff Quota (ATQ) in the first quarter, China's exports to the EU experienced a 26% decrease, while the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam saw increased exports. Thailand offers the most competitive pricing, followed by the Philippines and Vietnam, which experienced price hikes due to different tuna types. Import volumes from Cape Verde, Indonesia, the Solomon Islands, Colombia, and Peru have declined, while Guatemala and El Salvador have increased their exports.
