In a significant operation on April 12, the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) intercepted three trucks loaded with smuggled cocoa beans at Kpando Torkor in the Volta Region. The operation, which took place between 0040 and 0400 hours, was led by Deputy Superintendent of Immigration Peter Austin Hall, following intelligence about a smuggling attempt from the Afram Plains to Togo through an unapproved route. Three suspects, Wahab Abdulai, Nicholas Agbesi, and Fodume, all 42, were arrested during the operation. The seized trucks were handed over to the Kpando Police for further investigation. This operation underscores GIS's dedication to protecting the nation's borders and preventing cross-border crime, while also highlighting the importance of public cooperation in these efforts.
