The Department of Agriculture (DA) in the Western Visayas region is advising local government units to be on alert for processed meat products that could carry the African swine fever (ASF) virus. The region has seen a rise in the volume of incoming processed meat products from other regions and provinces. The DA is also awaiting results from a specimen submitted for ASF testing in Aklan province, where the first case of the disease was reported.
