Morocco: Walnut production remains insufficient for local consumption despite the good profitability

Promising opportunities for Moroccan farmers: Nut imports on the rise. In the field of nut imports, Morocco is experiencing a significant change at the start of 2023, according to data provided by EastFruit. After a drop in 2022, nut imports have resumed their boom in the Moroccan market, offering new opportunities for the country's farmers. Since 2016, nut imports have grown at an impressive rate, showing an annual increase of 45-50%. In 2020, this growth even reached a record rate of 90%. The following year, in 2021, Morocco set a new high with more than 50,000 tons of imported nuts. Morocco currently ranks 22nd in the world among the largest importers of nuts.
