Freshways, a UK fluid milk processor, has set a standard price of 40 pound cents (52.75 cents) per liter for May, the highest so far, as rising costs are putting pressure on cash flows and causing labor shortages in the dairy industry. The company's managing director, Bali Nijjar, has urged milk suppliers to produce B liters, which are currently worth more per liter. The European dairy market is experiencing volatility, with prices of butter and skimmed milk powder reaching record highs. Global dairy prices are expected to remain high due to factors such as declining global production, labor shortages, and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. Experts predict that inflationary pressures and tight supply will continue to drive up prices, and milk production is not expected to increase until the end of 2022.
