Watermelon prices are falling in Ukraine

Since the beginning of the current week, prices for watermelons in Ukraine have already dropped by a third, analysts of the EastFruit project report. The improvement of weather conditions in almost the entire territory of the country allowed Ukrainian watermelon producers to resume active harvesting operations, which led to an increase in the supply of this product on the market. In addition, producers have already started mass harvesting of melons in all regions of Ukraine without exception, both in the central and western regions. Currently, prices for watermelons on the domestic market have already dropped to UAH 3-8/kg ($0.07-0.19/kg), which is on average 30% cheaper than at the end of the last working week. Manufacturers explain the negative price dynamics by a sharp increase in the supply of these melons on the market.
