Spain has seen a significant reduction in its watermelon purchases from Morocco, decreasing by 75.51% in the last two campaigns, equating to an decrease of 87.3 million euros. To compensate, Spain has increased its purchases from Senegal and Mauritania. The total reduction in watermelon purchases is 44.89%, with a decrease of 55.24% and 42.34% via Almería and Barcelona respectively. However, arrivals via Valencia have increased by 33.49%. The 2023/2024 campaign saw Morocco as the leading watermelon supplier, followed by Senegal and Mauritania, with Italy and Brazil also contributing to Spain's watermelon market.
