The EU's trade surplus in the food industry increased sharply in October 2025, reaching 6.4 billion euros. This represents an 18% increase compared to September and is the highest monthly surplus in over a year, according to the European Commission (EC). The surplus was 19% higher than in October of the previous year, the commission added. According to the data, between January and October 2025, the cumulative surplus of the EU in the food industry amounted to 42 billion euros. However, this remains 12.5 billion euros less than in the same period of 2024, largely reflecting persistently high import prices, particularly for cocoa and coffee.
