Poland: What for farmers in the National Reconstruction Plan?

On May 4, 2021, the Sejm passed the act on increased European Union resources, which in practice means the ratification of the EU reconstruction fund. Poland is the largest beneficiary of these funds. The entire fund will amount to EUR 58 billion, of which 23.9 billion will be subsidies and 34.2 billion loans. After consultations, the draft of the National Reconstruction Plan has already been sent to Brussels. Its first version was heavily criticized for insufficient funds allocated to agriculture. Following public consultations and amendments, the plan addressed to Brussels included € 2.3 billion in funding for agriculture and rural development. At the same time, approximately EUR 1,267 million is to be sent directly to farmers and processors.
