A project aimed at protecting and sustainably exploiting sea urchins in Quang Ngai province, Vietnam, has seen initial success with a farming model that has a profit potential of 35-40 million VND. The project, a collaboration between the Agricultural Service Center of Ly Son district and the Institute of Oceanography, has found a high density of urchins in the province's sea, with an estimated reserve of 5.7 million individuals. The project proposes zoning, seasonal protection, and the replication of the commercial urchin farming model to ensure the conservation and sustainable development of local aquatic resources, contributing to the income of people in coastal areas.
