The president of the ADEX Exporters Association, Julio Pérez Alván, emphasized the need for Peru to investigate and innovate in order to expand its agro-export offerings beyond its current diverse basket of fruits. ADEX estimates that global demand for fruits will continue to grow, with the volume traded globally expected to reach 572 million tons by 2023 and 624 million tons by 2026. Pérez Alván also highlighted the potential of fruits for the cosmetic industry, particularly in Asian countries, and the importance of developing native and organic products that benefit small producers and align with consumer preferences for innovative and clean labels.
