Wheat market in the South awaits Conab auction

The wheat market in southern Brazil is on hold in anticipation of a new auction by the National Supply Company (Conab), expected to move around R$ 67 million. According to TF Agroeconômica, this volume would be sufficient to cover between 200 and 230 thousand tons, keeping the sector in suspense regarding the impacts on prices and regional logistics. In Rio Grande do Sul, the harvest has reached 42% of the cultivated area, below the average of the last five harvests (64%), according to data from Emater. The delay is a reflection of a longer maturation cycle of the crops, caused by alternating rains and mild temperatures. Although the health of the crops is considered satisfactory, there are isolated records of rust and gibberella. In the market, "milling" wheat fell to R$ 1,160.00 per ton at the port of Rio Grande, while wheats with higher DON content are discounted and traded up to R$ 1,090.00.
