Chile: Wheat milling in the Biobío Region decreased 32.5% in July

An interannual decline of 32.5% was recorded in wheat milling in the Biobío Region, which totaled 9,095 tons in July 2023, according to what was reported by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). The performance obtained in the year-on-year analysis was associated with lower processing of wheat products and by-products. Meanwhile, 169,006 tons were processed in the country, a level that showed an increase of 2.7% in twelve months, influenced by the greater production of wheat products and by-products. 5.4% of the national wheat milling was processed in the Biobío Region. Cumulative Analysis 81,595 tons of wheat milling were processed between January and July 2023, accumulating a negative variation of 13.9%, explained by the lower processing of wheat products and by-products. Likewise, 1,090,020 tons were processed in the country in the same period, accumulating a decrease of 3.3%, explained by the lower processing of wheat products and byproducts.
