The Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resources Economics (Abares) projects a 36% drop in Australia's winter wheat production to 26 million tonnes in 2023/24, slightly below the ten-year average but higher than the previous forecast. Wheat exports are also expected to decrease by 32% due to this lower production. Despite Australia's decline, global wheat production remains above average, with increases in Argentina, Ukraine, and the United States offsetting declines in other major exporters like Canada, Kazakhstan, and Russia.
