Hatay Metropolitan Municipality purchased 320 tons of produce that had fallen in price to 2 TL per field and was being left to rot due to its cost, distributing it to citizens for free. This year, Hatay, which is home to some of Turkey's most fertile lands, is experiencing a bounty of tangerines. The tangerines, so bountiful that the branches are breaking, have seen their price drop to 2 TL per field. As the selling price could not cover the collection costs, Hatay Metropolitan Municipality (HBB) took action to support the local producer. HBB implemented a significant social support project with the aim of strengthening rural production and increasing social solidarity.
