Durian exports from Vietnam reached a record level of over $2 billion in the first 10 months of 2023, with a 604% increase compared to the same period last year. The majority of exported durian consists of fresh durian, accounting for 94%, followed by frozen durian at nearly 6%. China is the leading market for Vietnamese durian exports, with $1.893 billion worth of imports. The Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association predicts that durian exports could reach $2.5 billion by the end of the year. Additionally, the Plant Protection Department is working on regulations for frozen durian exports to China, which include criteria for fruit selection, packaging, and hygiene.
