Egg prices in Egypt have increased due to a rise in feed prices and a lack of egg supply, following a previous decrease in prices due to reduced demand. The price of a carton of white and red eggs has gone up by one pound, totaling 87.75 and 89.75 pounds respectively, and municipal eggs cost 96.75 pounds. The rise in prices is attributed to the ongoing crisis caused by the delay in opening documentary credits and bank currency management, leading to a shortage of production requirements and a fodder shortage crisis. This situation has forced some poultry farms to cull chicks, although Egypt achieves self-sufficiency in bird production with a gap between production and consumption of only 5%.
