Adama Agricultural Solutions is one of the largest global manufacturers of crop protection products, with roots in Israel and a presence in over 100 countries. Its history began with two local chemical companies: Agan, founded in 1945, and Makhteshim, created in 1952. Both established themselves as leaders in the Israeli chemical and agricultural industry until, in 1997, they merged to form Makhteshim Agan, with the aim of projecting themselves into the global market. The company's internationalization grew, and in 2011, the Chinese state-owned group ChemChina acquired 60% of Makhteshim Agan, taking it off the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. Shortly after, in 2014, the company officially adopted the name Adama Agricultural Solutions Ltd., a change that extended to all its subsidiaries by the end of 2015.
