The article provides an overview of the current situation regarding shrimp prices in Russia, highlighting the significant price gap between imported and locally produced shrimp. Imported shrimp prices range from 800-900 rubles per kilogram, while Russian shrimp is much more expensive, costing between 2700-3000 rubles per kilogram. The increase in local shrimp prices is attributed to the end of catch quotas, increased demand, and the depreciation of the ruble. Factors such as drought in Ecuador and typhoon Yagi have led to a decrease in Vannamei supplies, resulting in a doubling of imports from China. Despite the higher costs, local shrimp are valued for their quality, but some restaurants opt for imported shrimp due to their lower cost and convenience.
