Buckwheat prices are constantly fluctuating. Ukraine does not have a stable and balanced policy regarding the production of this cereal, although it is a rather strategic product for our country. "We see this situation - farmers will grow a lot of buckwheat, the price will be very low, they sell the products at a loss, and the next season they reduce the sown areas. After that, they harvest a smaller buckwheat crop, a shortage appears on the market, and the cost of the cereal increases. The next year, a lot of buckwheat is sown again, and the situation repeats. This occurs because there is no balanced approach to sowing, prices are not formed by agreement with small farmers who grow the products," explained the deputy head of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, Denys Marchuk, in a comment to UNIAN.
