Seeded grapes are gradually disappearing from the shelves of European supermarkets, and the reason is not a lack of production, but a sharp change in consumer preferences and global trade. A new study by the Dutch industry organization GroentenFruit Huis shows that over the last decade, the table grape market in Europe has undergone a substantial transformation, in which seedless varieties completely dominate, reports FruitNet. Over 2 million leva have been paid to vine growers to combat pests. According to the data, the volume of table grape imports into Europe via the Netherlands has increased by 40% and reached 493,000 tons. The country has established itself as a key logistical center for the continent. Nearly 89% of the imported grapes are resold to other European markets.
